Where can V-mount batteries be used?

V-mount batteries are commonly used in film and television production. They can power professional cameras such as those from ARRI and Sony. Additionally, they can be used for LED COB lights and other on-site lighting equipment, as well as external audio recording devices. V-mount batteries provide the flexibility needed for mobile operations.

Flexibility is crucial in film and television production. The portability and flexibility of V-mount batteries allow for easy relocation, even when frequent changes in shooting locations are necessary. This enables crew members to move freely without being restricted by power sources and to shoot anytime and anywhere.

What is the capacity of V-mount batteries?

Each V-mount battery has a different capacity.

Taking Yinchem’s product line as an example, let’s delve into it. Yinchem offers multiple series of V-mount batteries with various capacities. As of now, the smallest V-mount battery capacity is 50Wh, while the largest reaches up to 270Wh.

The capacity requirements for V-mount batteries vary depending on different usage scenarios and user needs. For instance, smaller devices with lower power requirements may only need a smaller capacity V-mount battery to meet their needs. However, devices that require prolonged usage or have higher power demands would necessitate larger capacity batteries with higher output to sustain extended operation. It is these diverse usage scenarios that drive the introduction of V-mount battery products with varying capacities, catering to the needs of different users.

What is the cycle life of V-mount batteries?

The cycle life refers to how many times a V-mount battery can be charged and discharged.

For example, Yinchem’s 268H high-density battery, which utilizes lithium cobalt oxide cells, can achieve up to 2000 cycles. Even after 2000 cycles, it can still maintain 80% of its capacity, which is four times more than that of lithium-ion batteries. Calculated with a frequency of one use per day, such a battery can last for over five years.

For users, a high cycle life means longer usage lifespan and lower replacement costs. Therefore, for long-term usage, choosing V-mount batteries with higher cycle life would offer better value for money.

How long can V-mount batteries last?

We can calculate the usage time using a simple formula:

Usage time = V-mount battery capacity ÷ Equipment power.

For example, let’s take our BLADE99S as an example.

This is a V-mount battery with a capacity of 99Wh. Assuming we use it to power a 60W film light, we can calculate the usage time using the formula mentioned earlier:

    99Wh ÷ 60W = 1.65h.

Therefore, the BLADE99S can power a 60W film light for approximately 1.65 hours.

However, it is important to note that as the capacity increases, the weight of V-mount batteries will also correspondingly increase. Therefore, when selecting the right V-mount battery, one needs to balance factors such as power, capacity, weight, and the expected usage time.
